It is generous, alive and sporting.
Descending from the Massif Central, the Dordogne is what makes the Lot beautiful. Between Sousceyrac and Souillac, over 55 kilometres, what a display ! Some of the most beautiful villages in France , Loubressac, Autoire et Carennac ; exceptional chateaus, Castelnau-Bretenoux, Montal ; charming cities such as Martel, the city of seven towers.
The Dordogne is capricious. It changes beds, allows sandbanks to appear, abandons meanders which become dead-ends: these are known as “couasnes”. They serve as a refuge for numerous species of animal: grey herons, tree frogs, muskrats, shad.
